A man killed by a dog on the outskirts of Dundee died at a local kennels, it has been confirmed.
The 55-year-old victim was discovered in the small village of Kirkton of Auchterhouse to the north-west of the city.
Emergency services responded to the incident at Juniper Kennels and Cattery at about 1.10pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Tragically the man was declared dead at the scene.
A police car was parked behind a closed gate at the rural smallholding through the day as officers guarded the property.
Locals described seeing a significant amount of activity there last night.
One told us: "There were a number of police cars and at least one ambulance at the kennels in the afternoon.
"It looked like a really serious incident. A family lives in the house next to the kennels and I think it was the owner who was killed.
"It is such a tragedy - especially at this time of year."
Calls to Juniper Kennels and Cattery were going unanswered through the morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers received report of a man having been attacked by a dog in Kirkton of Auchterhouse around 1.10pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
“Emergency services attended, however, the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
