Dog and person stuck in mud in Bristol prompts emergency service rescue mission

A person and a dog got stuck in mud in Bristol and prompted a rescue mission involving the fire and ambulance services.

The incident happened at Oldbury Court Road, Fishponds, shortly before 2pm on Monday.

When Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service got there, the dog had managed to get out of the mud, but the person had to be helped out by firefighters.

The rescued person was then passed to paramedics.

Other incidents this week included a call-out to a fire in a school field in Redwing Drive, Weston-super-Mare.

Crews were called shortly after 12am on Monday to the land near Worle Community School to a fire in rubbish.

It is believed the fire was caused deliberately.

While there was also a fire in a property in Oakfield Road, Clifton, at 8pm on Saturday in which a person was taken to hospital.

Crews from Temple and Bedminster discovered a fire on the first floor of a four-storey building.

Two firefighters using breathing apparatus put out the fire using one high pressure hose reel, one covering jet and one positive pressure ventilation fan.

One casualty was conveyed to hospital by ambulance colleagues after being assessed at the scene.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental ignition.
