Liverpool have been handed a possible boost in their reported pursuit of Rennes forward star Doku.
The Reds were linked with the Belgium international during the summer, after impressing with his country during the European Championships.
It wasn’t the first time that Doku was associated with Liverpool, having previously rejected the chance to move to Anfield.
The forward admitted that in the 2017/18 season he had the chance to sign for the Reds, but opted against the move due to not being quite ready to join a club of Liverpool’s stature.

In the summer of 2020, Doku left Anderlecht to sign for French club Rennes in a £23m deal, and has continued to catch the eye with his performances.
As well as Liverpool, the likes of Barcelona have also been credited with a recent interest in the winger.
However, Doku’s father has poured cold water on the idea of Doku signing for Barca, potentially opening the door for Liverpool in the process.
“We have not heard anything from Barcelona yet,” Doku’s father told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“That doesn’t seem right to me. I don’t think Barcelona are in a position to spend big transfer fees right now.
“There are many other clubs who want Jérémy, although I am not allowed to say anything about that.
“He can say, ‘wait and see’. I don’t think he wants to change yet, but in football, everything can change quickly. It depends which team is interested.”
