Does YOUR school have outstanding communication or a winning class?

Great communication is key to a happy school environment - keeping parents, students and teachers on the same page.

And in this age of technology there are more ways than ever before to keep everyone in the loop from social media accounts to blog posts and apps.

Here at the Greater Manchester Schools Awards we are looking for the best in class to enter our School Communication category.

Speaking of classes we are also looking for an opportunity to celebrate a sterling team effort with our Class/ Team of the Year Award.

Have a read of the qualities we are looking for below and meet our previous winners who got the recognition they deserved.

School Communication Award

For this award the Manchester Evening News is looking for a school with exceptional internal and external communications.

This could be through a VLE portal, blog, social media (Twitter / Facebook), website or even a school newspaper.

The school should demonstrate fun and interesting communication engaging with teachers, pupils, parents, and the wider community.

One institution that knows all about successful communication is last year's winner Our Lady's RC High School.

Anna Barker, marketing and communications manager at the Blackley site said: "As a school community we completely revamped our communications to create a strong, recognisable brand identity which has had such a positive impact in terms of both stakeholder engagement and new student intake.

Tell us why YOUR school deserves to win at the Greater Manchester Schools Awards 2019

"With a new website, school magazine and student blog well-established, we submitted an entry to the School Communication Award category of The Greater Manchester Schools Awards.

"We were delighted that our strategic approach to school communications got us shortlisted and invited with two of our student bloggers to the awards lunch at the Hilton last July.

"It was such a lovely event with so many schools from across Greater Manchester showcasing the wonderful work they do across the different awards categories. The day got even better when Our Lady’s was announced as The Communications Awards Winner 2018.”

Class / Team of the Year

Does your school have an outstanding class or team? We want to hear how pupils and teachers have worked together to really stand out.

It could be a sports team that has trained hard, or an orchestra / choir or drama group have worked together on a performance.

Maybe a class within the school has really excelled, or completed a project? Tell us about your inspirational teams!

Kieran McDermott, CEO, of sponsors One Education said: "We are thrilled to be a part of this year’s Manchester School Awards.

"We can’t wait to see all the nominations that celebrate the achievements of such talented teaching professionals and leaders in education.

"Entries are now open so don’t miss the opportunity and it could be your school that is joining us at the awards ceremony."
