Big Brother Australia fans have spent weeks asking the same question: “Does Big Brother sound… different?”
Well, the mystery has been solved and the answer is actually kinda iconic.
Turns out there are TWO men playing Big Brother this year. Not one booming overlord — TWO.
PEDESTRIAN.TV can confirm that the 2025 voice of Big Brother is actually a tag-team effort between Pete Cunningham and Grant Phillips, two Queensland-born superfans who have been quietly rotating behind the mic while the audience remains blissfully unaware.
Yes, you’ve been listening to two completely different voices this whole time.
Who is the voice of Big Brother Australia?
A production insider spilled that both men were specifically instructed to match former Big Brother voice Leon Murray’s tone, cadence and delivery so precisely that viewers wouldn’t notice the handover.

“It’s a dual-operation this year,” the insider told us. “The audience wouldn’t know the difference. That’s how good they are.”
And honestly? They’re right. The switch has been seamless.
It’s not even the first time Big Brother has been a tag-team. Back in the early 2000s, the role was actually split between three different men, but 2025 marks the first time in years that the show has gone back to a multi-voice setup.
PETE CUNNINGHAM
Pete isn’t a newbie. He was the official voice of Big Brother in 2012 and 2013, known for his strict, booming delivery. Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Pete basically grew up breathing Big Brother air.
“If you lived on the GC, you have Big Brother in your DNA,” a mate told us.
Pete has worked on shows like The Biggest Loser, The Celebrity Apprentice, The Voice and The Only Way Is Essex.

GRANT PHILLIPS
Grant, also from Queensland, was that kid who lined up at shopping centre appearances just to get photos with former housemates. Now he’s the one housemates line up for.
He worked across every Seven-era version of the show before becoming one of the franchise’s most trusted behind-the-scenes operators.
In a full-circle moment, auditionees now nervously perform in front of him, without realising he’s one of the literal voices of God.

Fans have noticed the shift. The Big Brother voice used to be intimidating and borderline terrifying. Now? It’s warmer. Softer. More… supportive stepdad energy.
Insiders say this is deliberate.
“They’re fans of the original show but they understand modern TV,” one source told us. “They know viewers want nostalgia, not fear.”
When approached for comment to confirm or deny the identity (or identities) of this year’s Big Brother, a Ten spokesperson said: “The voice of Big Brother is always a mystery, and this year is no exception.”
How very mysterious..
