The Seattle Seahawks were able to execute a few trades during this year’s virtual NFL draft and walk away with a class of eight new players. Some needs were arguably filled, but some selections left fans scratching their heads.
After analyzing all eight picks, Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports believes the Seattle Seahawks are only deserving of a D+ grade for their efforts in the 2020 NFL Draft.
“Meh. Got their usual haul of players they seem especially willing to overdraft,” Davis writes. “For years, it was taboo to question the wisdom of coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider, who made so many mid-round home run picks early in their tenure but have picked just two Pro Bowlers since 2016 – one of those P Michael Dickson.”
A D+ might seems a little low, considering the Seahawks’ methods in forming their class this year. General manager John Schneider conceded he was searching for players who could immediately fit in considering the uncertainty of the offseason.
“Absolutely,” Schneider said in his post-draft press conference. “Not necessarily an emphasis from a conference standpoint, but an emphasis to try to find people that will be able to click with our coaches and vibe with our locker room and be able to do that in a very, very quick manner.”
