Hillary Clinton looks set to be the Democratic presidential nominee after “a burst of last-minute support from superdelegates”, according to the AP. It’s likely that Clinton will become the first woman in history to lead a major party bid for the White House.
The predicted victory came on Monday, before voting was due to commence in primaries in California and five other states. However, the legitimacy of the announcement was questioned by Clinton rival Bernie Sanders.
