Dodgers rookie Miguel Vargas isn’t allowed to swing this spring but has been improbably walked 4 times

Miguel Vargas is a promising rookie for the Los Angeles Dodgers. But there’s something quirky the second baseman needs to do this spring, at least thus far.

He’s not allowed to swing the bat. At all. As in, when he’s at the plate, no bat swings.

It’s because he injured his pinkie earlier at spring training, so the Dodgers are being super careful.

Yet there’s another quirk to all this: Vargas has drawn multiple walks despite the fact that EVERYONE KNOWS HE CAN’T SWING A BAT.

Why? Maybe the pitchers are working on something of their own or they had no idea about this situation.

This is hilarious:

This also resulted in Zach Greinke just throwing what looked like batting practice balls to Vargas:

Too good.
