Dodgers hit four homers, and Kenta Maeda feels he is making progress

March 16--Highlights from the Dodgers' 8-6 loss to the Chicago White Sox:

AT THE PLATE: Andre Ethier opened the scoring by powering a first-pitch home run off Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana into the Dodgers' bullpen. It was Ethier's first homer of the spring. Enrique Hernandez cleared the stadium's outer fence with a solo homer in the third inning. Austin Barnes hit his fourth homer of the spring, and so did Rob Segedin.

ON THE MOUND: Kenta Maeda could not complete the fourth inning, but indicated he made progress in his third Cactus League appearance. He was charged with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning. One occurred after Luis Avilan replaced him on the mound. Maeda struck out three, walked two and allowed four hits. "This is where I expected myself to be," Maeda said. "I'm going to continue to get better until the season [starts]." Jose De Leon gave up three runs in two innings. Jamey Wright surrendered a walk-off two-run homer to Matt Davidson.

EXTRA BASES: Alex Wood completed his first bullpen session since being scratched from a start because of soreness in his left forearm. He is scheduled to start on Thursday against Kansas City. ... Adrian Gonzalez packed his bags as he prepared to play for Team Mexico in a qualifier for the World Baseball Classic. The tournament runs from Thursday to Sunday in Mexicali. Mexico is competing against Czech Republic, Germany and Nicaragua.

UP NEXT: Arizona on Wednesday, 1:05 p.m. at Camelback Ranch.
