Dodgers display some power in sloppy 11-8 loss to the Diamondbacks

March 19--Highlights from the Dodgers' 11-8 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks:

AT THE PLATE: An unseemly afternoon, one laden with errors, walks and wild pitches, at least featured some offensive firepower from the Dodgers. The batters hammered Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Godley. Yasmani Grandal capped a four-run first inning with a two-run homer. Howie Kendrick homered off Godley in the third. Cody Bellinger, a prospect at first base, also hit his first homer of the Cactus League.

ON THE MOUND: The ugliness began with Brandon Beachy, who left with the bases loaded and none out in the third inning. He was charged with six runs after giving up five hits and walking four. Yimi Garcia was also charged with a run in the third. Luis Avilan allowed a run-scoring double in the fourth. Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run homer off Matt West in the fifth.

EXTRA BASES: Manager Dave Roberts believes shortstop Corey Seager will be ready for opening day. Seager has not been cleared to resume baseball activity as he recovers from a knee sprain, but Roberts reported progress. "He's moving around better," Roberts said. "The swelling is down. He's a little bit more active as far as arm exercises, throwing and stuff like that. We're pretty optimistic." Seager injured his knee March 12. ... Former Dodger Chan Ho Park visited Camelback Ranch in the morning and spoke with countryman Hyun-Jin Ryu.

UP NEXT: Chicago White Sox on Saturday, 1 p.m., at Camelback Ranch. On the air: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020.
