Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal will undergo additional testing on his right forearm

March 22--REPORTING FROM PHOENIX -- Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal will undergo additional testing on his right forearm as the team prepares to absorb yet another blow to its roster.

Manager Dave Roberts removed Grandal from Monday's game after Grandal experienced soreness on a swing. Grandal had strained his forearm earlier this month.

"It's one day he feels great," Roberts said. "And then the next day, he doesn't feel good. Not well enough to finish a game. So it's a little disconcerting. But obviously he wants to be out there to play and get his at-bats. So we're going to dig a little deeper and try to figure out what's going on."

Grandal downplayed the severity of his condition in a conversation with reporters Tuesday afternoon. He said all he felt Monday was "a bad swing." He planned to "be smart" about the number of at-bats he takes for the rest of spring.

But Roberts relayed that Grandal felt frustrated by the intermittent soreness with his forearm. So the team will send yet another player for tests, the news coming on the same day the Dodgers announced Andre Ethier will miss 10 to 14 weeks with a fractured tibia.

Bolsinger won't be ready for opening day

Ailing from a strained oblique muscle, Mike Bolsinger will not be ready to return for the start of the season, President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said.

The team effectively crowned Bolsinger as its fifth starter Sunday afternoon, only to see him injure himself warming up before a start. To fill his place, the organization will choose between Zach Lee or Carlos Frias.

Brandon Beachy remains on the periphery of the conversation, as he still has not resumed throwing since feeling soreness in his right elbow after an outing Friday. Roberts indicated Beachy could play catch Wednesday.
