Scots teen's murder by ex-boyfriend to be reconstructed in graphic doc tonight

A graphic reconstruction of the murder of a teenager by her ex-boyfriend will be shown in a TV documentary to highlight her family’s fight for justice.

Michelle Stewart, 17, was stabbed to death near her home in Drongan, Ayrshire, by John Wilson in 2008.

Wilson, who was 20, had been stalking the schoolgirl after she broke up with him.

He ambushed her from behind as she walked to the shops with friends, stabbing her 10 times with a 10in blade.

The killing is re-enacted by actors in the programme, called Countdown To Murder, which will air on Tuesday on 5STAR at 9pm.

The killer is seen stabbing Michelle then running off and returning home holding the knife with blood-covered hands.

Michelle’s relatives took part in the programme to pay tribute to her and highlight their campaign for Michelle’s Law, which would introduce new measures to help crime victims and their families.

The family want exclusion zones set up on an offender’s release, after Wilson was spotted in Ayrshire numerous times while on leave from prison since 2018.

Wilson was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years but could be freed next month when he appears before the parole board.

Michelle’s sister Lisa and brother Kenneth speak on the show with their father Kenny, who said: “How do you think I would feel if I saw him crossing the road in front of me as I’m driving down the high street?

“Just think for one second it’s your wee lassie and that’s happened to her. That’s the pain.”
