Doctor who 'vanished into thin air' was texting new fiancé just minutes before disappearing

A doctor who "vanished into thin air" was texting his fiancé just minutes before disappearing.

Dr. John Forsyth, from Missouri, had just finished his shift at Mercy Hospital in Cassville at around 7am on May 21 and was due to meet his new fiancé and his children later that day, according to his last text messages.

However, the 49-year-old, who had just finalised his divorce, failed to show up for his shift at the hospital that same night, sparking concern from his family.

Authorities were alerted of Mr Forsyth's disappearance when a black Infiniti sedan was found abandoned at Cassville Aquatic Park, a mere stone's throw away from the hospital.

His car keys, passport, wallet and briefcase were all located in the car.

A further search found two mobile phones left behind in his RV that he had stayed in outside the hospital.

However, there were no signs of the doctor, who has now been missing for over a week.

The Cassville Police Department dispatched officers to search for Mr Forsyth last Tuesday, which included a 90 acre space, but there was no evidence of the doctor.

Police have released limited information regarding their investigation.

Mr Forsyth's younger brother, Richard, told The Daily Beast there was something wrong when he didn't turn up to work.

He revealed he has never missed a shift without informing colleagues in the 15 years the doctor's been there.

"He wouldn't miss a shift even if his eyeballs were hanging out of their sockets,' Richard said.

"It was an immediate red flag."

The doctor, who is a dad to seven children, recently became engaged after finalising his divorce from his ex-wife.

"His fiancé was texting him around 7am… and as he was leaving he was texting her things like "Hey, my shift's over' and 'I'll see you a little bit later,' Richard said.

"And then minutes later, he stops responding to text messages and is seen walking toward his RV."

"John's RV was found unlocked [at the hospital], which is very uncharacteristic," he said.

"His cell phones were inside, which is also very uncharacteristic because he always has his cell phone."

There was CCTV showing the doctor's Infiniti driving into the car park when a white SUV arrives and parks right next to him.

"It leaves a few minutes later and [John] is seen walking around maybe 10 to 15 minutes after that," Richard said police told him.

"And then he walks away from his car."

The luxury Infiniti was later discovered by cops at the park "in a very hidden location, in a place where it seems like cars are not supposed to go", according to Richard.

The brothers had gone for dinner last week and he was "really happy and excited" about getting married.

"Nothing seemed weird," Richard added.

"Which makes John vanishing that much weirder."

Mr Forsyth's family created a Facebook page appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

J.R, Richard's 23-year-old son, wrote: "My dad is a very logical person and I kind of tend to be that way as well.

"And I can't think of any logical conclusion as to why he would just vanish like this."
