Doctor Who 'to fight terrifying Weeping Angels' before Jodie Whittaker leaves role

Doctor Who fans prepare to be petrified, as the Weeping Angels are said to be returning in the new series.

Steven Moffat, who created the spooky statues, let slip that they will face Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Time Lord.

Speaking about the star’s decision to quit after the 10th series, he wrote: “It breaks my heart when a Doctor Who resigns.

“But it’s too soon to be sad, there’s going to be a whole new season of Jodie’s Doctor. And she’s going to fight the Weeping Angels.”

His revelation is likely to annoy show boss Chris Chibnall, who does not like spoilers being given out.

Moffat later admitted: “I made a screw-up.”

He created the monsters in 2007 for an episode called Blink, with David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. They can send a person into the past with a touch before feeding off their energy.

The statues have been described as “the deadliest, most powerful life-form that evolution has produced”.

It was last week confirmed Jodie and Chibnall are quitting in autumn 2022, after the six-part series and three specials.
