Doctor Who Tardis turned pink ahead of Barbie movie's UK premiere as nod to new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa

The highly-anticipated UK premiere for the new Barbie movie will take place tonight in London, as Scots actor and Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa will be starring in it alongside Hollywood icons Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

The 30-year-old, who will also take on the role of the 15th Doctor in the BBC sci-fi show Doctor Who, landed a spot in the star-studded cast and plays a version of the iconic doll Ken in the flick which is set to come out on July 21.

And Warner Bros gave a sneak peek of what to expect at tonight's UK launch, as they shared a nod to the popular sci-fi show and Scots-Rwandan actor by showing a specially made pink Tardis which has "landed" on the banks of the Tower Bridge.

"A pink TARDIS from @BBCDoctorWho has landed on the banks of Tower Bridge #BarbieTheMovie #DoctorWho #NcutiGatwa #Tardis," they captioned the Instagram snippet with pink hearts.

The time machine, which is usually royal blue had a makeover and had changed colour to 'Barbie pink', making it a 'Barbis'.

One of the first to comment on the post was the official BBC Doctor Who page, who wrote: "A TARDIS dream house!," as they also shared pink heart emojis.

Gatwa also shared an image of the Tardis makeover, as he shared an image of it on his social media and wrote: "What planet/world is this? Guess who's in town," as he shared a side-eye emoji.

Ncuti Gatwa, who also stars as Eric Effiong in Sex Education, isn't the only Scots star cast in the blockbuster as he will be joined by Two Doors Down star Sharon Rooney who will also be playing 'Lawyer Barbie' in the film.

While much of the plot for Greta Gerwig's Barbie blockbuster has been kept under wraps, the film synopsis reads: "After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness."
