Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker to join previous Doctors for NHS tribute on BBC's Big Night In

Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker, Matt Smith, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi have teamed up to send a message of appreciation for the work of the NHS.

The actors – who have all played different incarnations of the Doctor on the hit BBC sci-fi series – will feature in a short segment to air as part of The Big Night In on BBC One this evening.

The video will also include contributions from past Doctors including Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Peter Davison and Paul McGann.

Elsewhere in the special, which is a joint effort by Children in Need and Comic Relief to raise money for charity, other beloved TV personalities are revisiting old roles.

Dawn French is set to perform as her character from The Vicar of Dibley, while Matt Lucas and David Williams are recording an all-new Little Britain sketch.

Catherine Tate, who has herself starred in Doctor Who in the past, will perform a skit as her famous schoolgirl character Lauren, from The Catherine Tate Show.

Peter Kay, meanwhile, is recreating the famous music video to Tony Christie’s “(Is this the Way to) Amarillo” using additional clips sent in by NHS workers.

The Big Night In airs on BBC One at 7pm on Thursday, 23 April 2020.
