Doctor Who Peri Brown star suffered 'fair share' of sexual harassment throughout career

Doctor Who star Nicola Bryant claims she has been a sexual harassment victim throughout her career, and the torment is still going on.

The 62-year-old said the pestering by bosses has taken its toll on her mental health.

She played Peri Brown with Doctors Peter Davison and Colin Baker from 1984 to 1986. They are not accused of wrongdoing.

She said: “It’s showbiz lechery, a MeToo issue. I think I’ve had more than my fair share. It leaves me insecure, terrified. I’ve had it in all different shapes and forms. I’m 62, you’d think this nonsense would end and it’s still going on.

“They take you to dinner and say, ‘I can offer you a reality show and two sitcoms if you sleep with me.’ Like a banking deal.

“There was a director. We were on a train and he said his flat was just one minute away, would I take the script for his next job.

“We walk round the corner and he pounced. He goes, ‘This is your job, it’s a massive role, but you’ve got to sleep with me.’ No. I ran out and I’ve never spoken to him since.”

Nicola, who has also appeared in My Family, Holby City and numerous theatre shows, claims one showbiz figure even flashed his penis at her. She told My Time Capsule podcast: “I turn around and he’s got something out and he’s put it on his desk. I’m like, ‘Really?’”

The actor claims she rejected a showbiz job recently as it was made clear to her it would require her to have sex.

She said: “It turned into a conditional job. I am so tired of it. I’m like, ‘When does it end? When I’m 70? When I’m 80?’

“It’s been in every layer of this industry”
