Doctor warns of potentially very awkward side effects of 'No Nut November'

A doctor has explained why you might want to give "No Nut November" a miss if you're a bloke attempting the annual internet trend.

For those not already in the know, No Nut November is when you avoid orgasm and ejaculation for the whole 30 days of the month.

As dictionary.com defines it: "No Nut November is a joke internet challenge where men give up busting a nut–whether via masturbation (fap) or intercourse–for the entire month of November."

There are no proven benefits but some men reckon it boosts their testosterone, trains them mentally to resist temptation and focus on other pursuits, and helps them reduce reliance on pornography.

Discussing the no-fap fad on his @dr.karanr TikTok channel, NHS surgeon Dr Karan Rajan explains what happens when you stop masturbating or having sex for a while.

He warns men to expect more wet dreams and says: "Wet dreams or nocturnal emissions aren't always about sexual arousal, reports the Daily Star.

"Nocturnal emissions are a way for the body to clear out sperm.

"Your sperm has an expiration date, so if you haven't fired your gooey cannon in a while, your body gets rid of the old stuff while you sleep."

Dr Karan adds: "You're a sperm recycling factory. Any sperm that reach their sell-by date and aren't used up get broken down and reabsorbed by your body.

"This is especially important for men that have had vasectomies because they still produce sperm.

"If your body didn't reabsorb sperm your dingleberries would swell up."

Orgasm and ejaculation also help you sleep better by increasing the level of the hormone prolactin that supports high-quality REM sleep, according to the surgeon.

"This explains why some men fall asleep after horizontal bedroom wrestling," he jokes.

Since Dr Karan uploaded the video on Sunday (November 7) it has been watched more than two million times but many viewers were adamant they would not give up the challenge.

One user commented: "Stay strong boys. Remember what it's for, remember why we're doing this."

"That's not a doctor that's Lucifer stay strong boys," joked someone else.

Another person quipped: "Well it's a good job it's October 38th."
