Doctor warns of one 'popular sex position' that accounts for almost 'half of penis fractures'

A doctor is warning couples that one "popular" sex position is responsible for almost half of penis fractures.

The well-known UK doctor, who is a massive viral hit on TikTok, has said that "reverse cowgirl" is the most dangerous when it comes to male injuries.

Dr Karan Raj said: "If there is any erratic thrusting or if the movements of the two parties are not in sync it could lead to the [penis] slipping out and being crushed by the female pubic bone."

The doctor continued: "Despite being boneless, the penis can break...over enthusiastic sex could leave your penis looking like an Aubergine."

However, research done back in 2017 does contradict Raj's claims a bit, saying a whopping 41% of men fractured their penis during doggy style, followed by missionary and woman-on-top.

The severity of the fracture was similar between doggy and missionary, but significantly worse when comparing doggy and woman-on-top, the study found.

Explaining a penis fracture, medical journals state: "A penile fracture is a tear in the tunica albuginea. The tunica albuginea is the rubbery sheath of tissue below the skin that allows the penis to increase in width and length to produce a firm erection. Sometimes the erectile tissue beneath the tunica albuginea also ruptures. That's known as the corpus cavernosum."
