Doctor shares top hangover tips including one you wouldn’t have realised

As Ireland reopens its entertainment industry fully in the coming weeks, many of us will head on our first night out in a long, long time.

Which means we might plan to go for one or two pints but could easily sink five or six more.

And that usually results in a hell of a hangover.

However, there are a few easy tricks to avoid the dreaded mordning after.

While some of us swear by burned toast, a heavy workout or hair of the dog, Tiktok sensation Doctor Ethan has some better tips for curing a hangover.

The hangover solutions are all surprisingly simple, but medically based and proven to work.

Skip the black coffee and try his last tip that many of us may not have even considered to cure your morning-after headache after a night on the sauce.

The UK doctor gave his 185,400 followers five top tips for dealing with a hangover.

1. Eating a good breakfast

While the nausea that comes with a hangover may make you feel like you could never eat again, Doctor Ethan suggests eating a “good, hearty breakfast” when hungover.

“Get the carbs in you because your blood sugar levels are going to be low,” he said.

2. Sleep it off

“Get yourself plenty of sleep,” he urges.

Rolling over and dozing off again is a hangover cure we can all take on board after waking up with a pounding headache and regrets from the night before.

“Let’s be honest after a heavy night, we’re all a bit knackered, this will sort you out.”

3. Drink lots of water

Alcohol can make you “massively dehydrated,” says Doctor Ethan,

“Get your fluids in.”

4. Painkillers

Waking up with a splitting hangover headache can be aided by reaching for the painkillers.

Doctor Ethan recommends paracetamol for morning-after headaches.

5. Energy drinks

While most of us might shy away from any fluids but water when the hangover is bad, this tip may actually surprise you.

“The one that not many people do is use electrolyte solutions or even sports drinks.”

Chugging a Lucozade Sport or sipping on a Dioralyte solution may be the cure to your hangover.

Doctor Ethan says that these electrolyte laden drinks work to replace the sodium and potassium that you’ve lost.
