Doctor reveals skincare trends that don't work and are waste of money

A doctor has shed light on skincare trends that don't work and aren't worth spending money on.

With many beauty products having a hefty price tag, it's hard to know what to invest in to achieve perfect skin and clear pores.

But Dr Shah, from the US, has revealed the products that have no benefit to the skin and should be left alone and in a series of helpful videos.

The dermatologist took to Tik Tok to share his tips and has come up with a list of the top trends to avoid.

In one clip, Dr Shah said that jade rollers, which are said to decrease puffiness and increase circulation, don't work.

He also claimed coffee scrubs are actually harmful to the skin.

Here are the top skin trends he claims aren't worth the money:

  • Coffee scrubs - these can be damaging to the skin.
  • Ginger pore masks - Damaging to skin
  • Facial sprays - No benefits and some have harmful ingredients
  • Jade rollers - Don't work
  • Witch hazel toners - Bad for your skin
  • CBD oil - Overpromises on results and needs more testing and research

  • Hydrocortisone - Avoid if you're an acne sufferer
  • Pore vacuums - Harmful to skin
  • Peeling solutions - A great product but not for beginners, best added to a consistent skin routine

The doctor also debunked a handful of skincare myths, such as ice cold water will shrink your pores, organic products are always better for the skin and toner isn't needed.

He also suggested the best skincare ingredients to use, such as products that include vitamin C, azelaic acid and retinol.

Thankful fans were quick to comment on the dermatologist's videos praising him for his useful advice.

One wrote: "I've literally been using a witch hazel toner for YEARS and two different dermatologists never told me it was bad but skincare TikTok did."

"Thank God we got some light in the darkness of TikTok," another commented.
