Doctor issues warning over common shower habit

A doctor has revealed why it's so bad for men and women to practise a certain habit in the shower.

The medical professional and healthcare expert has issued a warning to anybody who urinates in the shower.

The doctor took to Tik Tok and has subsequently gone viral, with plenty of people sharing her video guidance, and many others commenting on it too - reports Birmingham Live.

The doctor has subsequently done a raft of media interviews to shed light on why it is such a problematic habit to have.

Dr Alicia Jeffrey-Thomas (@scrambledjam) took to Tik Tok and said: "We want to avoid training our bladder to associate certain signals with the urge to pee.

"In this case, peeing in the shower associates the sound of running water with urination or with submersion in water.

"This can often transition into being triggered by other sounds of running water (like when you're running the faucet [tap] to wash your hands or the dishes) or when you're in bodies of water."

Other no-nos for her were hovering over the toilet and she warned against "peeing just in case" too.

She revealed the bad habits for your pelvic floor and they are as follows:

  • pushing out your pee
  • hovering over the toilet
  • peeing 'just in case'
  • peeing in the shower
  • Doing tonnes of kegel exercises without being evaluated by a pelvic floor specialist
