Doctor Hilary reveals why he would not go on a plane in stark 'second wave' warning

Doctor Hilary Jones has revealed why he most definitely won't be going on a plane anytime soon.

Airbridges, which will allow Brits to go on holiday without the need to quarantine on arrival or return, are set to be revealed later this week and over the weekend holiday firms reported a surge in bookings as lockdown restrictions are eased all over Europe, including of course in the UK.

But Good Morning Britain health expert Dr Hilary told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid why he wouldn't yet be booking up to jet off to sunnier climes.

He said: "Air travel is how this pandemic began in the first place, that's how it spread from China to Italy to Germany to Iran, through air travel particularly."

On the subject of countries being keen to open up air bridges with the UK, Dr Hilary added: "They want to for the tourism business, it is an economic decision.

"A lot of people are saying 'we're not going to do that', a lot of people saying 'we wouldn't fly just now', because you can't socially distance on a plane."

And then when pressed by Susanna on if he would fly right now, Dr Hilary replied: "No. I wouldn't. Absolutely not."

Agreeing with him, she responded: "I think there are plenty of people who need a holiday and I think once the air bridges open up, people will just be relieved.

"What seems crazy to me is we can get on planes but we can't put children back in classrooms."
