Doctor Hilary reveals hack for getting COVID test near you after people travel miles to get one

Doctor Hilary Jones has revealed a 'hack' for getting a coronavirus test near your home after cases of people having to travel miles away to get one.

His advice comes days after Health Secretary Matt Hancock was put under pressure after people with coughs and fevers were told to travel more than 300 miles to get tested for Covid-19.

Questioned over whether the system was failing, Matt Hancock told Sky News: "I completely reject the accusation, in fact quite the contrary."

This came in the same week that an NHS testing director apologised and admitted that while test sites had capacity, there was a "pinch point" in labs processing the results.

Speaking on Friday's Good Morning Britain, Dr Hilary told viewers it was all about perseverance when it came to securing a coronavirus test close to home.

He spoke in response to concerns from a viewer who' been unable to get one.

Dr Hilary airs suspicions over new rules not coming in until Monday

He explained: "Technology is a large part of the problem. When you go online and you look for a test you may be offered one many, many miles away.

"But, if you go back on five minutes later you may now find a test becomes available near you the same day.

"So just keep trying! It’s not a very personal service at all it’s very impersonal."

Hitting home his point, Dr Hilary added: "But if you just keep trying, keep logging on every few minutes, you will find that you will get a local test hopefully near to you."
