Doctor Hilary Jones tells landlord who threw Keir Starmer out to 'stick to pulling pints'

A scathing Doctor Hilary Jones told the landlord who threw out Sir Keir Starmer out of his pub to 'stick to pulling pints' in a heated spat on Good Morning Britain.

The Labour leader was in the centre of Bath when he headed to Rod Humphris' pub The Raven, but he was made by a furious reaction by the publican who told him he'd "failed him," during the pandemic after being a staunch Labour supporter for years and hadn't given enough opposition to Boris Johnson over Covid restrictions that have hit many industries, including hospitality, hard over the past year.

The Starmer row made headlines on Monday evening so it was little surprise that Rod was head hunted to be a guest on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain where he faced questions from hosts Adil Ray and Susanna Reid.

The show's resident medic, Dr Hilary, was also in the studio and wasn't backward in coming forwards with his opinion on the matter.

Wasting no time in shooting Rod down, he told him "I think with the greatest respect Rod, I think you should stick to pulling pints rather than advising the government about policy on the biggest pandemic, public health issue for the last 100 years," Dr Hilary hit out.

"If we ignore a pandemic and we say lockdown doesn't work, how do you think this spreads in the first place? It's very simple, you have to have lockdown in a pandemic that kills people."

Dr Hilary also took exception to Rod's attitude about Covid 'mainly affecting older people', fuming: "And if you're saying at 83, it doesn't matter if you die, you're saying that people like Prince Philip, the last 16 years of his life were meaningless and worthless, we can't allow that to happen, you can't be that ageist."

Dr Hilary's angry outburst didn't sit well with some viewers at home, with one tweeting: "People like Dr Hilary only see it one way, the impact of lockdown is devastating and will be felt for years to come, long after we are on top of Covid."

In agreement, another posted: "I must've missed the press release that announced Dr Hilary as the nation's new moral judge of what's right and wrong."

However, others backed the TV medic, with one Twitter user reacting: "I'm with Dr Hilary on this one. #StickToPullingPints "
