Doctor Hilary Jones reveals when coronavirus should peak in the UK

Doctor Hilary Jones has revealed when he thinks coronavirus will peak in the UK.

The health expert was back on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday as the hashtag #AskDrH continues to trend on Twitter with people looking to Dr Hilary for answers as confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths continue to rise sharply in the UK.

Host Lorraine Kelly asked the TV doctor to address the figures, which saw nearly 400 people die from coronavirus in a day in the UK from Monday to Tuesday, to which he replied: "There are now nearly 1,800 deaths, 400 in one day in the UK. Every two to three days we were expecting a doubling but we had one overnight.

"But if we follow the correct guidelines we should see a peak within two to three weeks and then hopefully it will level out so we can get a handle on things."

Dr Hilary added: "The more cases we have the more we are seeing young people with no existing problems get it. We must stick to the rules."

Dr Hilary says NOT to be alarmed if you get these coronavirus symptoms

On Tuesday, Dr Hilary reaffirmed the two main symptoms of coronavirus, after GMB viewers were growing increasingly concerned over other symptoms which could relate to the virus.

He explained: "A dry persistent cough which is new , so that excludes many smokers, and then a temperature over 38 degrees that is quite long lasting. Those are the two cardinal symptoms."

Dr Hilary added "there are a lot of different coughs and colds around at the moment and these aren't too be confused with coronavirus," and advised "don't be too alarmed if you get the mild symptoms.

"Getting the two cardinal symptoms is when you need to self-isolate."
