Doctor Hilary Jones has hit out at 'risk takers' and warned against selfish behaviour in the ongoing battle against coronavirus.
As Nottingham and Warrington prepare to join the likes of Liverpool and Greater Manchester on the tier 3 level of restrictions, the TV medic issued a powerful plea to Brits to adhere to the rules as NHS workers up and down the country continue to make sacrifices as they fight the front line fight against COVID-19.
Speaking on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, Dr Hilary addressed the speculation that a vaccine could be ready for Christmas and told hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins: "I want people to remember that 630 healthcare workers sacrificed their lives in the first quarter of the year fighting coronavirus because they picked it up from patients in hospitals.
"If we forget what the NHS has done so far and say 'I don't care' or 'I'm prepared to take the risk' to me, that is a selfish way to go forward.
"We're only going to get through this if we're careful how we behave, how was socially distance and how we protect other people."
Dr Hilary's plea came a day after he made a prediction as to when the wider British public could expect to be vaccinated if a vaccine is ready in the next few months.
He explained: "Glen Burley, Chief Executive of George Elliot Hospital in Warwickshire, has sent an email to staff saying be ready for a NHS vaccination programme which could start in December before Christmas for health care workers and perhaps for vulnerable patients as well.
"This is the first time we have heard it could be ready by December, however we don't know that for sure yet.
"For most people it will be spring or even summer next year."
