Doctor Hilary Jones had some alarming words for Lorraine viewers on Tuesday over how long he thinks the coronavirus pandemic will last.
The resident health expert has been pretty much a permanent fixture on the show since COVID-19 arrived in the UK, other than his break over summer, giving daily advice and reaction to statistics, concerns and Government legislation.
And after issuing a plea to the public over coronavirus testing and the very serious implications of the chaos surrounding it getting out of hand, Dr Hilary stuck around to appear on Lorraine and left host Lorraine Kelly taken aback with a comment on the pandemic being 'long term'.
Addressing the stress people are feeling in these uncertain times, he told the famous presenter: "People are stressed and uncertain about the future.
"My message about the future would be...you know we live in a society that is very immediate when you want something and you want it now and don't want to wait.
"I think with this pandemic we need to think long term.
"We have to be patient...don't think about where you want to be in two weeks or even two months; think two years."
A rather shocked Lorraine replied: "OK...OK...long term."
Reaffirming his point, Dr Hilary added: "My view would to think of two years from now. And what are you going to do in the next two years to keep you sane and distracted.
"Do something constructive, do something you've never done before. It could be learning a new language or learning a new skill."
