Dr Hilary Jones angrily hit back at a Good Morning Britain viewer today who claimed coronavirus was "just the flu".
The morning show's resident doctor did not hold back as he slammed the viewer's claims about the virus.
Host Piers Morgan read out a tweet from a viewer who claimed that the virus and flu have similar death rates.
Piers asked Dr Hilary: "It's my understanding Hilary is that more people this week died from Covid-19 than have died in the entire year from flu?"
Dr Hilary said: "500 people died in one day, is this man really serious, thinking that flu is killing 500 people a day?
"There's hardly any flu this season and it wouldn't kill anything like that even in a bad flu season.
"This Covid-19 virus is about 20 times more lethal than ordinary flu for anybody."
He added: "Perhaps he'd like to volunteer for the NHS volunteer scheme which helps a lot of vulnerable people."
Dr Hilary's fury comes at the same time as the NHS in England has been placed on its highest alert level.
