Doctor denies raping fellow doc in her flat after asking to go in for cup of tea

A doctor went on trial yesterday accused of raping a colleague after asking to go to her flat for a cup of tea.

Imran Khan, 40, denies raping the 30-year-old doctor after a night out in Glasgow in 2017.

The alleged attack happened after a “leaving do” for the woman from the hospital where she and Khan worked together.

She said: “I remember Imran suggesting at one point going to a hotel over the road. I think he was suggesting to have sex.”

She said she had thought Khan was joking.

The woman said she later shared a 30-second kiss with Khan at a nightclub, then felt awkward and fled to the toilets, hoping he would have left when she got out. He had not, and they got into a taxi together.

She said the plan was for Khan, of Jordanhill, Glasgow, to drop her off.

He suggested “coming to mine for a cup of tea” and she told him to go home, but he got out at her flat and sent the cab away.

The woman said she let Khan in to call a taxi because she didn’t want to leave him standing outside, but he then tried to kiss her before unzipping her jumpsuit and having sex with her. She recalled “sobbing” until he stopped.

The woman said she felt “violated”. She said she did not consent and had told Khan that “several times”.

The woman is expected to resume her evidence when the trial at the High Court in Glasgow continues today.
