Doctor claims Trump is in 'excellent health'

President Donald Trump underwent his first physical exam since entering the White House on Friday _ and a doctor claims he's in "excellent health."

The exam went "exceptionally well," Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Dr. Ronny Jackson said in a two-sentence statement that included no medical details.

Jackson added that he "looks forward" to providing a longer assessment Tuesday.

Trump's exam, which did not include a psychiatric component, was conducted amid concerns about the 71-year-old's mental health.

Recent slurring during a speech and an unflattering tell-all book have led to questions about Trump's mental fitness.

In a series of tweets responding to swirling speculation about his mental well-being, Trump declared himself a "very stable genius" and "like, really smart."

Trump, who was 70 when he took office, is the oldest person ever elected to the nation's highest office.

Ahead of the 2016 election, Trump released a five-paragraph letter from his longtime personal physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein.

Bornstein concluded that Trump "is in excellent physical health."

The physician raised eyebrows a year earlier when he wrote that Trump, if elected, "will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency."

Trump's father, Fred, developed Alzheimer's in his 80s.
