A couple in London treated their street to a violin concert to lift spirits amidst coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Neighbours recorded a video of the duet on Sunday, April 12 in Stockwell where the violinists demonstrated their musical ability as onlookers cheered on.
Violinist Richard Milone and his wife, Julia Burkert - who combines being a freelance violinist with work as a doctor in a London hospital - played a number classical music pieces from their balcony.
These included Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla, which can be seen in the video featured, as well as Vivaldi’s Spring and Csardas by Vittorio Monti.
Milone said that the concert was intended to cheer up passersby on the street on Easter Sunday.
In the video, Milone says “Julia is not gonna probably like me or thank me for this, but I don’t know how many of you know that she’s actually a full-time A&E doctor at Chelsea and Westminster [Hospital].”
He later added, “She’s able to play the violin like a goddess. Well done Julia, thank you.”
According to official government figures, as of the morning of April 13, 88,621 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK, with 11,329 deaths.
