Doctor allegedly raped by colleague denies lying to make him 'look like a total rat'

A doctor allegedly raped by a colleague has denied lying to make him look like “a total rat”.

The 30-year-old woman claims fellow doctor Imran Khan attacked her in her home after a night out.

Khan’s lawyer yesterday suggested she was happy to have sex .

The woman says married Khan raped her after a night out in Glasgow to mark her leaving the hospital where they had worked together.

She was engaged at the time.

The woman and Khan got a taxi together after the night out. She said the plan was for her to be dropped off, but Khan got out at her flat and sent the driver away.

Yesterday, on the woman’s second day of evidence, defence counsel Louise Arrol asked her: “Did he say he would come up for a cuppa and you smiled?” She replied: “No.”

Arrol: “Why let him in your flat?”

Woman: “To be honest, I don’t know. I did not want to leave him standing outside. I did not think someone who I had worked with
for a year would do what he did.”

The woman says she “cried and cried” after Khan unzipped her jumpsuit and had sex with her.

But Miss Arrol said: “Your clothes were down because you were happy and content for this to happen?”

The witness replied: “Not true.”

The court heard that Khan texted the woman “in friendly terms” in the hours after the alleged rape, and offered to help with the move to her new post.

She told the jury: “It was uncharacteristically nice for him.”

Arrol: “That is an example of you making him look like a total rat?”

Woman: “No.”

Miss Arrol said the woman made no attempt to block Khan’s messages. She replied: “I did initially, but he
just kept texting.”

Khan denies rape. The trial at the High Court in Glasgow continues.
