Dockers star Brayshaw cleared by match review officer

Struggling Fremantle have received a boost, with star midfielder Andrew Brayshaw cleared by the match review officer.

The Dockers had an anxious wait after their 59-point humbling at the hands of the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

Brayshaw was involved in a contest with Tom Liberatore during the fourth quarter that resulted in the Bulldogs veteran suffering a concussion.

The ball bounced out of a stoppage away from Fremantle forward Michael Walters and Liberatore, and towards Brayshaw, with the MRO declaring it "reasonable" for the Fremantle man to contest the ball in the way he did.

"As both Brayshaw and Liberatore approach the ball, Walters applies considerable pressure to Liberatore's back as Brayshaw lowers to contest the ball and high contact is made," a statement from the MRO said.

"It is the view of the MRO that it was reasonable for Brayshaw to contest the ball in the way that he did and that contact was caused by circumstances outside the control of Brayshaw."

Brayshaw will be free to play in the Dockers' clash with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba next Saturday in a key match for Justin Longmuir's team.

Fremantle, who made the semi-finals last year, have slumped to 2-4 with their only victories this season coming against West Coast and Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, Brayshaw's Dockers teammate Sam Sturt was offered a $2000 fine with an early guilty plea for tripping Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar.
