Docker Hogan fined $8000 for COVID breach

Fremantle forward Jesse Hogan has been fined $8000 after pleading guilty to breaching WA's strict COVID-19 laws, and he could face further pain from his AFL club.

Hogan was investigated by police after allowing a female visitor into his home on September 22 - just a day after Fremantle had returned from their Queensland hub.

Dockers players were allowed to serve their 14-day quarantine period at home, but Hogan was ordered to finish the rest of his quarantine period in a hotel after police found out about his breach.

Hogan fronted up to the Fremantle Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to the breaching charge.

Along with the $8000 fine, he was also ordered to pay $248.70 in court costs.

He could also be sanctioned by the Dockers.

"Given the quarantine period is now complete and following the outcome of Jesse's court appearance, we now have the opportunity and time to work through the matter internally in due course," a Fremantle spokesperson said.

Hogan still has one more year remaining on his Fremantle contract but there are growing doubts about his future.

The 25-year-old played just seven games this season, and at one point had fallen so far down the pecking order that he was being trained up as a defender.

Hogan has booted just 18 goals in 19 games in his two years at Fremantle.

It's a far cry from his debut season in 2015 when he booted 44 goals from 20 games for Melbourne as a 20-year-old.

Hogan kicked 47 goals in his final season at the Demons in 2018, but two serious foot injuries and mental health battles have since curtailed his career.
