Dock Street crash between car and motorbike leaves two in hospital

Two men have been hospitalised following a crash in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision involving a car and a motorcycle in the Dock Street area of Belfast at around 1am.

Police say two males, who were travelling on the motorcycle, were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.  The driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

A spokesperson for NI Ambulance Service said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 01.01 on Sunday 18 August following reports of a RTC at the junction of Dock Street and Garmoyle Street in Belfast, involving a motor cycle, with a pillion passenger, and car.

"NIAS dispatched two Emergency crews to the incident.  Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were taken by ambulance to RVH."

The condition of the men is not known at this time.

One eyewitness praised local Community Rescue Service workers who were among the first on the scene as they happened to come upon the crash.

They told Belfast Live: "Before the police and ambulance arrived, two members of the CRS, search and rescue team who just happened to be passing in a van, stopped to help and tended to the two injured men until the ambulance came and I think they deserve a mention for that."
