Dobbies Edinburgh set to reopen with eight rules in place for staff and customers

Dobbies in Edinburgh will reopen on Monday morning with eight rules in place to keep staff and customers safe.

The garden centre retailer will welcome shoppers across the country, including at Lasswade, from 9am on April 5.

A host of places will open tomorrow as lockdown measures are eased. In addition to indoor and outdoor garden centres, hairdressers and barbers, homeware shops and vehicle showrooms can also open up.

Dobbies say the safety of staff and shoppers is their top priority, and they'll have a number of new rules in place to reduce the risk of virus transmission. The following rules will be in place at stores.

  • Limits to the number of customers in stores
  • A queueing system in operation outside shops
  • Two metre markings indoors and outdoors
  • Hand sanitising and trolley cleaning stations at store entrances
  • Protective screens at tills
  • Customers are asked to pay by card or contactless
  • PPE is provided to staff
  • Daily cleaning and hygiene measures in place throughout stores

Graeme Jenkins, CEO of Dobbies, said: “We welcome this updated guidance from the Scottish Government, enabling us to reopen our stores, including the Edinburgh store and little dobbies. The safety of our team members and customers remains Dobbies’ number one priority.

“Spring is the time when people want to get back out into their gardens, and with proven health and wellbeing benefits, reopening in Scotland is a positive development.”
