Rail transport is in the headlines after a botched timetable change left passengers in the lurch across the UK.

Train operator Northern, one of the worst affected by cancellations, emergency timetable changes and replacement bus services, blamed overrunning engineering work for the disruption.

Govia Thameslink (GTR) and Northern have cancelled or delayed thousands of services since new timetables were introduced on 20 May.
