Do you have to wear a face mask inside a taxi or Uber?

Since lockdown has significantly relaxed in England, people will find themselves heading out and about more often.

And sometimes, this means not using a car.

On public transport, face masks or coverings have been compulsory since June 15 and from July 24 this will also apply to shops and supermarkets.

In England, taxi's are considered public transport so wearing a mask is required.

And Uber has previously confirmed that people using their service will need to wear a face mask - both passengers and drivers.

If you don't, the driver is entitled to turn you away.

When taking a ride with an Uber driver, the company is asking you to travel alone or limit the number of passengers.

When booking through the app you'll be asked to wear a face mask or covering and to wash or sanitise your hands before and after your journey.

Uber has provided its drivers with free cleaning equipment and training and recommend they clean their vehicles regularly throughout the day.
