Do Titans think Derrick Henry can be back sooner rather than later?

After Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry suffered a foot injury in Week 8, initial reports suggested he could be out for the remainder of the season.

But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport would provide some hope soon after that, reporting that Henry’s timetable was actually six to 10 weeks, which would enable him to return late in the regular season and right before the playoffs.

Rapoport noted that eight weeks was the most likely scenario at the time, but the most important point was that the team expected their superstar rusher to return this season.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini, who is normally pretty tuned in to what’s going on in Nashville, provided even more hope during an appearance on The Buck Reising Show on 104.5 The Zone on Thursday.

“I think this organization feels that it’s going to be on the early side of (the timetable) rather than the later,” Russini said.

Henry had his surgery on Nov. 2, which would put the six-week mark at Dec. 14, the Tuesday before Tennessee’s Week 15 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The eight-week mark, as Rapoport originally reported as Henry’s more likely return timetable, would come on Dec. 28, the Tuesday before the Titans’ Week 17 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

The 10-week mark would come on the Tuesday before the first round of the playoffs.

Whether it’s sooner, later, or somewhere in between, the prospect of the Titans getting Henry back at some point before or at the start of the postseason continues to look better and better.
