Do These Things First in College Football 26 Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team in EA Sports College Football 26 is once again a centerpiece of the game. An epic team of college legends and current stars is at your fingertips if you build your team correctly. There are some keys to success, though, and some things you’ll want to do right away.

Coins Are King

EA’s Ultimate Team modes typically feature a few different types of currency. It can be confusing to new players, but coins are the most important form of currency by far. They’re how you buy players in the auction house and packs from the store. For that reason, set out right away to earn as many coins as you can.

If you are part of Early Access, there is an Early Access Field Pass that will help you earn a lot of coins. The challenges to progress through the Field Pass are pretty straightforward—it’s things like rushing yards, passing yards, playing games, and more standard goals. You can complete them by playing Solos or online, and you’ll earn both coins and packs. You might want to brush up on the best offensive playbooks and the best defensive playbooks first.

The other modes of currency in College Football 26 include:

  • Points: Bought with your hard-earned cash and used to buy packs and bundles.
  • Training Points: Earned by quick-selling players and used to upgrade other players on your team. You can also buy packs in the marketplace using Training in the specific Training screen in the store.
  • Trophies: Earned by progressing through the Season 1 Field Pass and in online games and used to purchase specific players and upgrades in the store.

Make Your Way Through the Field Pass

College Football 26 has multiple Field Passes to progress through. They’re essentially Battle Passes. You’ll earn Field Pass XP for completing objectives. Each time you level up, you’ll get a reward—whether it’s coins, packs, or a player.

Unlike MLB The Show, where XP is earned just by playing, College Football 26 requires you to complete specific objectives to earn Field Pass XP. For that reason, make sure you check in on the Field Pass whenever you log in. There are always daily objectives to complete that should get you an easy 600 XP every day. One of those is always to buy a pack in the store, but 100-coin packs are available daily.

In addition to the daily objectives, some weekly objectives and milestones will help you get XP to progress in the Field Pass. Always be sure to keep an eye on what they are so you can complete them and maximize your rewards. On the right side of the objectives will be any special event objectives you can complete to earn extra coins or packs in the game.

Finally, log in daily if possible. There is a Login Field Pass that will reward you with an 87 overall player if you log in on 35 days during the designated time period. Every player helps, and an 87 is an excellent addition to your team this early in the game.

Grind the Solos

Solos are a quick and easy way to make progress in the Field Pass. Solos aren’t challenges; they’re actual games you play against the CPU in either Study Hall or Solo Season. They’re 3-minute quarters, too, so games fly by.

Even when your team is bad at first, you’ll be able to get through the Freshman Season relatively easily. Winning the five games and two playoff games will net you a bunch of coins and allow you to rack up stats that will knock out some objectives. Solos really are the quickest way to earn coins fast early in the game.

Should You Keep or Sell That Great Card?

You opened one of your packs and pulled a really nice card. It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? The high makes you want to buy more packs (don’t do that). But as painful as it can be, selling high-overall cards early in the game makes a lot of sense.

First, there are two types of cards:

  • Standard cards: these are cards you pull from packs in the store and can be sold for coins in the auction house.
  • BND cards: A card marked with BND on it is bound to your account. You can’t sell it for coins. However, you can quick sell it for Training.

The BND cards will go into your lineup early. However, any cards that aren’t BND might be worth selling early in the game, even though it’s enticing to have that 84 overall in your lineup. Here’s why:

College Football 26 has a lot of Ultimate Team content coming in Week 1 of the game. The best cards on the second day of Early Access will be surpassed by the weekend, so they will be cheaper. If you sell now, you’ll maximize what you can make on them and get them back for cheaper later if you want.

Of course, if you want to play competitive online games in Ultimate Team early on, then running with the best team might be the right call.
