'Do the right thing' - Tottenham fans send message to Daniel Levy after Liverpool u-turn

Tottenham and chairman Daniel Levy are coming in for increasing criticism.

That is as a result of the club deciding to cut wages for 550 non-playing members of staff and placing around 40% of those on the Government's furlough scheme.

And that decision from the club came just days after profits of £68.8million for the 2018/19 campaign were announced.

Spurs were not the only club to put staff on furlough, taking advantage of the Government's 80% grant, with Newcastle and Liverpool among those to do the same.

Liverpool, however, have made a stunning u-turn.

The Reds suffered a similar backlash from fans, pundits and politicians alike and as a result have decided to reverse their decision and have vowed to keep paying their staff.

That has increased the pressure on Levy and Spurs to do the same.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust came out with their own plea for the club to change their decision on Monday night.

"We have been saying consistently @SpursOfficial - pause and rethink. We are now saying it clearly and in public - do not further damage the club’s reputation, listen to your fans," they tweeted.

And the fans have been having their say on Twitter too.

There is a widespread feeling of disappointment in the Spurs fanbase, with many calling on the club to reverse the furlough decision given how much owner Joe Lewis is worth.

There have also been tweets feeling sympathy for the media and PR team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, who are having to deal with the current situation.
