Do powerful pictures make a difference?

Do powerful pictures make a difference?

The image of five-year-old Omran Daqneesh, bloodied and covered with dust, sitting silently in an ambulance awaiting help, is another stark reminder of the toll of the war in Syria.

Despite Omran's obvious suffering he is one of the lucky ones. According to activists, 4,500 children have been killed in Aleppo province alone during the five-year conflict.

Modern history is full of similar images of conflict which played on the collective conscience of global opinion long before the internet was invented.

But what will this latest image achieve beyond short-term outrage?

Presenter: Sami Zeidan

Guests:

George Graham - Head of conflict and humanitarian policy at Save the Children

Andrea Calderaro - Director of the Centre for Internet and Global Politics

John Hilary - Executive director of War on Want
