Do not swim notice at popular Balbriggan beach extended by 72 hours due to 'storm water overflow'

A Do Not swim notice at a popular north side Dublin beach has been extended for a further 72 hours.

The notice applies for Balbriggan Front Strand after water tests showed just 'sufficient' water quality from samples taken on Saturday and confirmed yesterday.

Another sample will be taken today with the results released sometime on Thursday.

Another do not swim notice had been issued for Malahide beach but has since been removed following an 'excellent' result reading from the latest sample.

While a Do Not Swim notice is in place at Balbriggan, it doesn't mean that the beach is closed. However, swimmers are advised to avoid the water to protect their well-being.
