Celebrating the birth of a child is exciting. What you maybe don’t need to share is the more…private parts of child birth. You know, the disgusting stuff that only a parent could love. Calvin Harris didn’t get that message.
The famous DJ posted about the birth of his son on Instagram and wrote “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.” The post started with a sweet picture of Harris and his newborn son. From there, it all went downhill.
Each image got a little too personal. I didn’t need to see a water birth from a far but okay. Then came the placenta and that is when fans decided to warn everyone to not go look at Harris’ account. And many of us did not listen to the warning.
To be fair, if you had said that there was a placenta present, I would not have wondered why you didn’t want me to go and look and maybe that’s on me. My curiosity got the better of me and when I saw the first image, I thought it was just going to be sweet. Instead, I am traumatized. Why did it look like a face hugger from Alien???
I know the beauty of life and all that jazz but I don’t really need to see someone else’s whole birthing deal without my consent. All Harris had to do was label the post so when you’re mindless swiping through you don’t end up accosted. What if I threw my phone across the room? Would Harris pay to fix it?
So take this lesson from this situation: When someone online tells you to not go look at something…maybe don’t go look.
