Leeds Pride organisers have asked people not to drink in the street for as part of any celebrations this weekend.
The event, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, would have been taking place on Sunday August 2 - marking its 15-year anniversary.
Because the Leeds Pride event is not going ahead, organisers do not have an event licence and are now reminding people that drinking alcohol in the streets of the city centre without it, is banned.
People instead are asked to celebrate pride at home with friends and family and hashtag #LeedsPrideAtHome - posts will be shared across their social media channels.
To mark the event, Leeds City Council will also light civic buildings in rainbow colours and fly trans, bi and pride flags.
The pride organisers said: “Please note: Drinking alcohol on the street without an event licence is prohibited in Leeds city centre. Leeds Pride does not have a licence in place this weekend so if you are intending on celebrating with a drink, please ensure it is at an appropriate venue. We also ask you to respect the social distancing guidelines in place when out in the city.
“If you are planning on heading into the city centre, it’s worth noting that most venues have reduced capacity and many still aren’t open. You will most likely require a booking to get into a bar and strict social distancing rules are in place. If you can’t get booked into a venue, we would advise you to celebrate Leeds Pride at home with family and friends.
“Have a fantastic Leeds Pride weekend, stay safe and we hope to be back on Sunday 1st August 2021.”
