Do coronavirus restrictions need to be tougher?

The Liverpool city region remains in the grip of the third coronavirus wave.

Infection rates are high in every borough, although there are cautious signs the rate of growth may have started to decline.

All boroughs saw infection rates fall in the latest set of figures, although they remain very high and more evidence is needed to see if this shows a downward trend in numbers.

Given the need to get more control over coronavirus as we wait for more people in our region to be given one of the vaccines, should the lockdown restrictions we are living under be toughened despite this glimmer of hope?

As was pointed out in yesterday's Government press conference, they are looser than during the first national lockdown, despite the infection rates and numbers of people with coronavirus being higher.

Could they also do with being better communicated to stop confusion over what you can and can't do?
