The actress and activist Susan Sarandon has been one of the most outspoken supporters of Bernie Sanders.
And when the Democratic Party's nomination went to Hillary Clinton, she made little effort to hide her disappointment. When it was recently revealed, via a number of leaked Democratic National Committee emails that party officials had been plotting against Mr Sanders, she was furious
“That’s so disgusting,” said in an interview with The Young Turks, a progressive online news network. “I think we have to really ask what’s happened to us in terms of what we’re willing to sacrifice to get our person in.”
So some people were surprised to see the 69-year-old, who frequently appeared as a surrogate for Mr Sanders, appear at the convention in Philadelphia on Monday evening. Some on social media pointed out that when the cameras caught her she did not appear to be looking very pleased.
Some suggested went as far as to suggest she was having a terrible time - “literally the worst time.”
Sarandon was quick to respond. “Accurate,” she tweeted.
