DMX is set to be remembered in a public memorial at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The 50-year-old rapper passed away five days after having a heart attack, which saw him placed on life support before losing his fight.
The performer, whose real name was Earl Simmons, died with his family by his side and in a statement, his family said he was "a warrior who fought till the very end".
They also added: "Earl's music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever."
DMX, who collaborated with such artists as JAY-Z, Ja Rule and LL Cool J, will be celebrated by friends, family and fans alike.
The chart-topping artist's songs included Party Up (Up in Here) and X Gon' Give It To Ya and he also appeared in films Cradle 2 the Grave, Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds.
Steve Rifkind, who was the late rapper's former manager, told TMZ that the memorial will be held on Saturday, April 24.
How many people who will be allowed to attend and how the ticketing will be done is still to be confirmed.
There will be a limited capacity due to the coronavirus pandemic.
DMX's family and close friends will then attend a private funeral service at a church in the New York City area on Sunday, April 25.
New York Mayor, Mike Spano, has said that it is being considered whether a statue or a street is named in the rapper's honour, after he was born and lived in the city his whole life.
DMX performed on the Barclays Center stage in June 2019 in what would be one of his final big gigs.
The memorial will be just over two weeks since DMX passed away following complications from a drug overdose.
