Rapper DMX was hospitalized and is thought to be in grave condition following an apparent drug overdose, according to media reports.
DMX suffered a heart attack after he overdosed at his home Friday around 11 p.m., according to TMZ and Variety.
He was being treated Saturday in the critical care unit of a hospital in White Plains, New York, according to the reports.
TMZ reported that the 50-year-old hip-hop star has “some brain activity,” though another source told the outlet DMX is in a “vegetative state.”
Several artists took to social media to send DMX their well wishes, including Chance the Rapper and Missy Elliott.

DMX, whose birth name is Earl Simmons, has been open about his substance abuse battle and has been admitted to rehab several times. In 2019, DMX canceled several live performances and checked into rehab after serving a year-long sentence for tax evasion, TMZ reported.
DMX burst onto the hip-hop scene in the 1990s. He dropped his debut album “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot” in 1998. The following year, he released “...And Then There Was X,” which went on to be his best-selling album.
In total, the three-time Grammy nominee has seven studio albums in his portfolio.
His most recent performance took place last July, when DMX went up against Snoop Dogg in a Verzuz battle, which drew an audience of more than 500,000 viewers.
